The last thing I thought before I fell asleep last night was, “We are at war.” The first thing I thought when I woke up this morning was, “We are at war.” I didn’t distance myself from it because there are some acts nations take for which we all will bear the burden of collective responsibility no matter how vehemently individual citizens might disagree with them.

[Transcript edited for flow and clarity]Two things can be true at once. On the one hand, we can have good things happening, and on the other hand, even those good things may not be as good as they at first seem. So we know that Donald keeps losing in court—not all the time. We heard recently that a federal court, a three-judge panel, ruled that Donald was within his rights to federalize the California National Guard.

[Transcript edit for readability] Earlier, I was reading the news, as I often do, and I was trying to think of something I want to talk about tonight, and I honestly blanked. Because sometimes—you may be able to relate to this—sometimes it feels like the news is just bad, right? Now, I understand that corporate and traditional media are primed to give us only the bad news. And that's always been a huge problem. Humanity has not evolved beyond clickbait, it seems. Good news doesn't sell.

[Transcript edited for flow and clarity]I don't know if you remember this, but when we were kids, we were told that our leaders should be people we could look up to and actually aspire to be, right? Don't get me wrong. In my lifetime, there haven't been that many presidents I've admired or looked up to, but that was the premise at least, right? Just for example, we were always told that anybody could grow up to be president.

[Transcript edited for clarity and flow.]Hello everybody, and welcome to this episode of Mary Trump Live. It is wonderful to have you with us. It really does look as if Donald Trump, because of a combination of ignorance, hubris, incompetence, and the fact that he's so easily manipulable, is pushing the United States closer to war with Iran, a situation that was not on anybody's radar two days ago. And he's doing it in part by ignoring his own intelligence.

On a day that's being called No Kings Day, there are over 1800 protests going on throughout the country. I think it's worth taking a couple of minutes to talk about why in America, a constitutional republic, millions of Americans feel the need to show up in order to insist that we are a country that does not abide monarchy or empire or imperial presidents. Why is this necessary when this is not something we have had to worry about since the colonies won the Revolutionary War?
