Following overcrowding occasioned by inadequate infrastructure, the purported plan by the state government to sell the staff quarters and some land of Queen Amina College, Kaduna, is raising dust. The school, Daily Trust gathered, is facing severe overcrowding as it is reported that 180 students occupy a room meant for 20 or 30 students, with three girls often forced to share a single 6-inch spring bed due to lack of adequate accommodation.

Two children, a 13-year-old boy identified as Imam and a six-year-old girl Nasrin, have been reportedly killed in an explosion at Abakpa area of Kaduna State. Three residents also reportedly sustained injuries in the explosion which occurred on Tuesday, adjacent the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna. Our correspondent reports that the cause of the explosion has not been established, but security agencies are at the scene of the incident to investigate the incident.

Four suspects have been remanded in prison custody by the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna over the murder of Ahmed Musa, an SS2 student of Government Technical College, Malali, located in the Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State. It would be recalled that Ahmed Musa was found dead on February 16, 2025, on the school premises. His hands and legs were tied, and his body showed signs of brutal assault.
