Hello again, it is once more time for the weekly peek around the league to find other things to take note of and root for besides our doomed Dallas Cowboys, who may soon be staring at a 2-5 record, much to our dismay. But that's what this is for: to find joy in other corners of the football world so that this abusive relationship with our favorite team need not be the thief of all joy in this wonderful and violent sport.

It feels like, every five years or so, the Cowboys fall into complete irrelevancy. 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020...2024? I'm not ready to completely give up on their playoff hopes, but am ready to say it once again won't get them anywhere even if they do make it to January in a weak division. Luckily, I have been keeping better track of the league as a whole, and am providing surface level analysis of my casual observations below.

To the surprise of few but to the chagrin of many, the Cowboys have already fallen flat on their faces this season. But take heart, ye tortured fan: it was for this very inevitability that I began this weekly article in the first place! Find some team in these rankings, quarterback in these tiers, or player in these awards races to attach some joy to, since your favorite team is clearly an unworthy subject of your devotion.

Happy victory Tuesday night, everyone! Since we all know the Cowboys will almost certainly disappoint us again this year, I thought it would be a fun idea to try and write a weekly column that keeps tabs on the league as a whole. That way, I can find other narratives and teams to become invested in and will still hopefully have something to watch and root for if and when our beloved 'Boys fall short once again.

It is time folks, the 2024 NFL season is right around the corner! For many out there, this is an encouraging promise of hope and joy. But as Cowboys fans, we of course know that statement for the ominous threat it is. Do we know what hilariously embarrassing doom lies in store for our beloved team and for us fans who hopelessly cheer them on? No. But we know it is coming, as sure as the grim reaper.
