Continuing their dream postseason run, Shippensburg University softball swept a best-of-three series over Kutztown this past weekend to advance to the Division II Women’s College World Series. The Raiders defeated the Golden Bears 7-2 on Thursday before a 4-0 victory on Saturday, continuing their deepest NCAA tournament run since 2004. SU wasted no time on offense in Game 1, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning thanks to RBI knocks from sophomore Sarah Sabocsik and senior Emilee Sullivan.

Shippensburg University’s men’s track-and-field team scored 148 points to finish second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships this past weekend at Slippery Rock University. The team won four events and had 12 top-three finishes, earning All-PSAC honors. SU picked up its first win on night one of the three-day meet, with junior Garrett Quinan defending his PSAC title in the 10K, beating California’s Jon Thrush to the line by half a second to finish with a time of 31:06.18.

In their largest home meet of the season, Shippensburg University’s track-and-field teams shined in the Paul Kaiser Classic this past weekend. The men’s and women’s teams combined to win 15 events in the meet, with four athletes provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II championships. Sophomore Gabriel Lewis rewrote school history at the meet, breaking his own SU record in the 100-meter dash.

In a chaotic week of postponements and tough opponents, Shippensburg University’s softball team split a doubleheader against Shepherd before winning a pair of games against No. 9 East Stroudsburg on Senior Day. SU now sits at 22-14 on the season, 11-9 in conference play. The week began with two games on Wednesday at Shepherd, rescheduled from Tuesday due to weather. Shepherd took a 1-0 victory in the first game, holding the Raiders to just two hits in the contest.

Shippensburg University’s track and field teams picked up some impressive results this weekend at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Invitational at the University of Lynchburg. The men’s team earned 19 efforts that qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships, while the women’s team added another 23. Sophomore Gabriel Lewis made school history in the meet, breaking the Shippensburg University record in the 100-meters at 10.41 seconds.
