Kempner Water Supply Corporation, still under a system-wide boil-order notice, is switching the disinfectant in its water distribution system from chloramine to free chlorine beginning Aug. 26. The water supply corporation announced the temporary disinfectant conversion on Monday, with a planned duration of two months, ending on Oct. 26. There could be potential side-effects of the change that water customers won’t be happy with.

COPPERAS COVE — Fifty riders met at First Baptist Church in Cove at dawn to compete Saturday in the Cove House Classic Bike Tour. Riders from distant parts of Texas joined the tour, including San Antonio, Austin, Waco, McGregor, and Mansfield. “We get people from all over Texas participating in this event,” Cove House Marketing Director Joelle Carter said.

COPPERAS COVE β The Dollar Tree in Copperas Cove is temporarily closed after a car drove into the building Thursday. According to the Copperas Cove Police Department, βthe accident occurred after the driver of the vehicle inadvertently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to collide with the building.βThere were no injuries reported.
