Al Yah Satellite Communications, better known as Yahsat, said on Friday that its government services arm has been awarded a Dh18.7 billion ($5.1 billion) 17-year services mandate by the UAE to provide satellite capacity and managed services. The UAE Central Bank held its benchmark borrowing rate after the US Federal Reserve hit pause for the second time this year as core inflation and the labour market in the US slowed. The Fed held its policy rate, which is at the highest since 2001, as it aims to bring inflation down to its target range of 2 per cent after prices hit a four-decade high in June 2022. The US central bank left the federal funds rate between 5.25 per cent and 5.5 per cent at the end of its two-day meeting on Wednesday.

The UAE's first US dollar-denominated sovereign bond offering in more than a year was oversubscribed by five times, the Ministry of Finance has said. The $1.5 billion bond, the first issuance by the federal government since June 2022, attracted more than $7.4 billion in bids, with strong demand from domestic, regional and international investors, reflecting the country’s “increasing attractiveness to foreign investors”, the ministry said.

Shares of Arm Holdings surged 25 per cent on Thursday as the company raised $4.87 billion in its initial public offering, marking the largest listing of the year. The UK chip designer's shares jumped to $63.59 at market close on the Nasdaq, well above Arm's top-end offer price, valuing the company at more than $65 billion. The shares rallied further in after hours trading, gaining 7 per cent to $67.95.
