The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has temporarily permitted the continuation of the US military’s recent policy of banning transgender individuals from joining the military. A recent SCOTUS ruling enables the Department of Defense (DOD) to continue prohibiting the entry of transgender individuals into the military despite a district court decision invalidating the policy.

US lawmakers are celebrating the election of U.S.-born Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost to lead the Catholic Church as its 267th Pope. Pope Leo XIV, as Cardinal Prevost will henceforth be called, was born on 14 September 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, and belongs to the Order of Saint Augustine (OSA). Upon being elected, Pope Leo XIV delivered a message of unity and peace to thousands of onlookers gathered at St. Peter’s Square to greet the new pope.

Pro-Palestine protestors recently stormed Columbia University’s Butler Library, disrupting academic activities, chanting anti-Semitic slogans, and defacing library property. Among other chants, the protestors openly called for an “intifada,” claiming that it was the only solution to the Israel-Hamas war. ‘Intifada’ is a term used by Hamas and Palestinian sympathizers to call for violent opposition to Israel and the Jewish people. “There is only one solution,” protestors could be heard chanting.
