March 22, 2025 Kitty Dukakis, wife of former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis and a tireless mental health advocate, has died. She was 88. Dukakis married her husband in 1963, the same year he was first elected to the Massachusetts House. The couple spent more than 60 years together. Just over a decade after their marriage, she became the commonwealth’s first lady when her husband won the first of his three non-consecutive terms as governor.

January 17, 2025 Boston rock icon Peter Wolf is reflecting on the loss of his long-ago roommate, director David Lynch. Lynch died Wednesday, with family members announcing the news Thursday. The visionary auteur was renowned for breaking new ground in cinema and television, with movies like “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive” and shows like “Twin Peaks” bringing experimental work from the underground to the edges — and sometimes the center — of the mainstream.

January 10, 2025 As the fallout from wildfires in and around Los Angeles continues, Massachusetts residents are on the ground lending a hand. The American Red Cross of Massachusetts says they’ve sent five volunteers to assist victims who’ve been forced into shelters. “They’re going to be supplying food, water, comfort and just helping them deal with what’s going on in this tragic situation,” said spokesperson Jeff Hall.

September 12, 2024 A fight at a pro-Israel protest in Newton Thursday evening culminated in a shooting that left one man facing life-threatening injuries. At a press conference Thursday night, Middlesex D.A. Marian Ryan said that Newton Police responded to the scene near the corner of Washington St. and Harvard St. at about 6:40 PM. “There was a small group of individuals, pro-Israeli demonstrators, who were demonstrating on one side of the street,” said Ryan.
