Michael Kopech began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, but it did not go according to plan as he walked all five batters faced on 23 pitches. The right-hander at one point threw 18 consecutive balls and finished with only three strikes in the outing. All five baserunners eventually came around to score as well. Kopech started the game as an opener. Perhaps the only bright spot was Kopech’s fastball topping out at 98.2 mph.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto started on one day of shorter rest than usual and allowed five runs over five innings of work. The right-hander gave up two home runs, including a grand slam to Gabriel Moreno in the fourth inning.

Roki Sasaki earned his first win with the Los Angeles Dodgers last Saturday despite inclement weather delaying first pitch at Truist Park by more than three hours. The rookie held the Atlanta Braves to three runs over five innings pitched and matched a career high with four strikeouts on 98 pitches. Sasaki threw 53 fastballs and registered a career-high five misses, which was up from zero in his previous outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
