The Idaho Peak Season Passport is back. It allows 5th grade students to ski or ride three days free at each of the 17 participating Idaho ski areas and gives 6th grade students two days free at those mountains. This year, it also comes with a complimentary family subscription to Airflare. That is an app that turns your phone into an outdoor rescue locater. Last year, Airflare helped save the life of an Idaho skier who got lost in the fog at Soldier Mountain and was found out of bounds.

The death penalty will remain on the table in Chad Daybell's trial. The defense filed two motions asking the court to strike the death penalty, claiming "relative culpability," meaning his co-conspirator, Lori Vallow, is more at blame than Chad and she did not face the death penalty.

The Bannock Humane Society recently received a donation. The Leavitt family held a fundraiser to collect pet food for the shelter. The shelter says so much food was raised that its food room is overflowing. Several law enforcement agencies across east Idaho took part in the annual Shop with a Cop. Kids were paired up with officers and purchased gifts for their families. The gifts were then wrapped for everyone. All of the kids also received free breakfast.

Several media outlets have filed a brief in support of cameras in the courtroom for Chad Daybell’s murder trial. The brief argues that allowing cameras will help the public understand court proceedings. Daybell’s attorney, John Prior, has filed a motion asking for cameras saying Daybell wants a “public trial.” However, the state objects to cameras saying they will complicate jury selection and create a high amount of pre-trial publicity. A hearing on the issue is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
