For the third-year in a row, we hosted our daughter’s birthday party at our house in March. The first year was make-your-own pizza party (which generated a column itself where I was worried about hosting six to seven kids); a tea party last year complete the real herbal tea (that did not generate a column probably because I expected it to go smoothly and it did), and this year was Poppy’s Parkour Party, a gymnastics theme.

On April 22 a man and woman died in an apparent murder suicide following a law enforcement standoff in Ramsey. The next day, April 23, a man died by suicide following a separate law enforcement standoff in St. Francis. And on April 27, a man died following a stabbing in Columbia Heights where a woman was arrested and released while charges are pending. ABC Newspapers reached out to the Anoka County Sheriff’s office for comment, and published a front page article on the events.

The Ramsey City Council voted 5-0 to accept bids and award a contract to North Valley, Inc. for a street reconstruction project. The project is generally between Ramsey Boulevard and Zirconium Street and between 155th and 157th Avenues, said Joe Feriancek, assistant city engineer.
