Vi VanStrate celebrated her 92nd birthday on Sunday. FRUITPORT — When David Gawlik and his wife, Melissa, opened Holligan’s Artisan Meats in Fruitport back in 2021, they knew it was just a matter of time before they opened an adjoining restaurant. It’s taken several years and has been “a rough journey,” according to Gawlik. But late last month, the restaurant – called Hooligan’s Tavern – finally opened its doors.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources delivered 150,000 fingerling salmon to the net pens secured between docks in Grand Haven’s Municipal Marina on Tuesday afternoon.
