Vi VanStrate celebrated her 92nd birthday on Sunday. FRUITPORT — When David Gawlik and his wife, Melissa, opened Holligan’s Artisan Meats in Fruitport back in 2021, they knew it was just a matter of time before they opened an adjoining restaurant. It’s taken several years and has been “a rough journey,” according to Gawlik. But late last month, the restaurant – called Hooligan’s Tavern – finally opened its doors.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources delivered 150,000 fingerling salmon to the net pens secured between docks in Grand Haven’s Municipal Marina on Tuesday afternoon. City Council debates ethics ordinance
