POPE Francis’ condition remained “stable” on March 2, and he “did not require non-invasive mechanical ventilation, but only high-flow oxygen therapy,” the Holy See said in its medical bulletin. The 88-year-old Pope did not have a fever, it said, but “in view of the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains guarded”.

THE north Queensland town of Ingham is a disaster zone with floodwaters inundating homes and businesses leaving one woman dead. Large parts of North Queensland are under threat and thousands are under evacuation orders as rain and flooding threatens the region. Investigations are underway into the death of a 63-year-old woman at Ingham on February 2 after a State Emergency Service vessel was assisting members of the public through flood waters when it struck a tree and flipped.

DOMINICAN Father Joseph Truong was remembered as a dedicated man of God by family, friends, his brothers in religious life and the wider Carina parish at his funeral Mass on January 9. Fr Troung died on December 22 after battling serious illnesses for many years. He was 65. Dominican provincial Fr Dom Murphy said in his homily at Our Lady of Graces Church that they gathered to bury “our brother who we love.”“He was a very good man to us his Dominican brothers … always.
