Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty Images Having wrapped up a West Coast trip over the weekend, the Yankees returned home on Tuesday night, and got a homestand started off on a good note. Led by a home run from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in his return from the injured list and Anthony Volpe immediately following Jazz with a shot of his own, the Yankees knocked off the Guardians 3-2. Now tonight, they’ll try for a series win in the second game against Cleveland.

Photo credit should read STEVE SCHAEFER/AFP via Getty Images These days, a regular season rematch of the previous year’s World Series is hardly a rarity. The Yankees literally just played in one against the Dodgers over the weekend. Thanks to the way the schedule is set up, you’re now going to see one every year. Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images It got a little scary in the ninth inning, but the Yankees opened their series against the Guardians with a win on Tuesday night. Elsewhere around baseball, it was a bit of a weird night: the Rockies clinched their first series victory of 2025 (over the Marlins, but still!).

We of course have the NCAA Baseball Tournament getting into crunch time, with the Diamond Heels advancing to super regionals against Arizona. However next week in Eugene, Oregon, we’ll have the NCAA Track & Field championships taking place.

Photo by Alex Slitz/Getty Images The second game of the Yankees’ series against the Dodgers did not go to plan. LA’s offense jumped all over Will Warren early and often, going up double digits in just the second inning. It was not exactly what they had in mind for a World Series revenge series. While that game didn’t go ideally for the Yankees, let’s see if they got any help in games around the league. Here’s a look at Saturday’s action in today’s Rivalry Roundup.
