NORTHEAST MISSOURI — Tuesday marked 16 years since multiple tornadoes impacted northeast Missouri. The first was an EF-1 and it touched down near Highway Y, near Milan, during the 5 p.m. hour. It then tracked east along Highway 6. Then around 6 p.m., it touched down near Novinger as an EF-2 with wind speeds of 115 miles per hour. After Novinger, that same storm headed towards the northern side of Kirksville.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — It's May and that means it's time for the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive again. In less than ten days, the Kirksville Fire and Police Departments will team up again for their annual blood drive. The police department is trying to make it three years in a row for the ones that donate the most units of blood. Both departments have told us in the past, that the drive makes it seem like their is a rivalry between the groups, but it's all with the fun of the event.

SHELBYVILLE, Mo., QUEEN CITY, Mo. & UNIONVILLE, Mo. — Three northeast Missouri organizations will be receiving literacy grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The organizations are the Schuyler County R-1 School District, North Shelby Elementary School and the Putnam County Public Library. Combined these three organizations will receive nearly $8,000 of the $200,000 that Dollar General disperses through these grants.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — The City of Kirksville will hold a tour of some historic sites around the city at the end of the month. It will start in front of Pagliai's and most sites will be walkable from there. There are two sites on the tour, Rieger Armory and the former Willard School, which residents will need to drive to. The tour will start at 5:30 p.m. on May 27. It will be led by Kirksville Mayor Zac Burden. This event is in connection to May being Historic Preservation Month.
