Rescuers have been working for hours to free a man trapped in a hole along the side of a cliff in Sunset Cliffs near Orchard and Cable streets, fire officials said Friday. San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded to a report of a person trapped in a hole at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday, according to fire officials. The man is not injured but is trapped from the waist down inside a crevasse along the cliff.

The holiday travel rush is upon us. The Auto Club of Southern California (AAA) is forecasting that from Saturday through Jan.1, nearly 10 million people in Southern California will travel 50 miles or more — a slight increase from last year. "The reason why we’re anticipating a record number of travelers this holiday season is because we’ve seen growth in travel all year long," said Doug Shupe, spokesperson for the Auto Club of Southern California.

Alaska Airlines flight attendants crowded San Diego International Airport's terminal two as local union leaders said negotiations on a new contract have basically fallen apart. The Association of Flight Attendants also announced members will vote next month on whether to authorize a strike against Alaska Airlines. Alaska Airlines officials said they have been negotiating with the Association of Flight Attendants since September of 2022 and have come to some tentative agreements.
