Steven Meadows recorded three homeruns as he went 4-for-4 with six RBI to lead EHS. JD Hooks also had a homerun for the Cyclones. Rhett Slagle was 2-for-3, while Hooks finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Justin Whitehead and Bryson Rowland added two RBI apiece. On the mound, Slagle picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on five hits with 10 strikeouts.

SoftballSullivan East 13, Cloudland 5Cloudland 11, Sullivan East 9Cloudland split a doubleheader on Monday on the road at Sullivan East. In the first game, Peyton Preswood went 2-for-2 with two RBI to lead the way, while Regan Blair, Ayla Horney, and Reagan Turbyfill each recorded a hit and an RBI. Layken Blair tallied two hits. Unaka battled back against Cloudland on Monday. The Rangers battled back from a 5-1 deficit to take a 19-9 victory over the ‘Landers on Stoney Creek. Cloudland jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two complete innings, but the Rangers plated eight runs in the third to take the lead. CHS battled back to trim the lead to one, but eight Unaka runs in the fifth secured the win for UHS.

The annual Orange and White game typically features new players in new spots, but this year’s edition rang true in the most surprising way. The Tennessee football program wrapped up spring practice on Saturday with the annual scrimmage, but with new faces at the helm after the sudden departure of quarterback Nico Iamaleava. “Today’s landscape of college football, it’s different from what it has been,” Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel said.

Elizabethton defended homefield on Wednesday evening. The Lady Cyclones outlasted Cloudland for a 12-8 in a nonconference county matchup in Elizabethton on Wednesday. Cloudland’s offense set the early tone as Regan Blair and Eowyn McCoury scored off a Layken Blair single to give CHS a 2-0 lead. After Peyton Preswood drew a walk to load the bases, Reagan Turbyfill hit a single that scored Alya Horney and Blair to give the Lady ‘Landers a 4-0 lead after the first frame.
