    STOCKBRIDGE — Mary Adams French adored her portrait of Queen Charlotte so much that she adjusted the mirrors in her parlor so the regal gaze would greet her every time she entered the room. The portrait hanging in the parlor at Chesterwood, the summer home of monumental sculptor Daniel Chester French and his family, is actually a replica by James Wells Champney — its original, a painting by Thomas Gainsborough, is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
