Held every August, the focal point is the procession, with floats, bands, cheerleaders and other community groups, businesses and individuals parading from West Road, along Marine Parade West and finishing in Victoria Road.

CHLOE Rogers and her Team GB side will be aiming for a repeat performance when they play their second game at the London Games. The women’s hockey team kicked-off their Pool A campaign with a terrific 4-0 success against Japan, at the Riverbank Arena on Sunday. Former Braintree Hockey Club junior Rogers produced a impressive performance and will be pressing for a starting role when the team play their next match this afternoon, against Korea.

Amusements in the early 1980s We've taken a look back in the archives to see how Clacton has changed since the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Some of our pictures date back nearly half a century and it's fascinating to take a peek at town-centre roads like Pier Avenue, Station Road, Rosemary Road and the High Street itself. We've also got a couple of pictures of the Pier Avenue amusements which are sure to bring back memories for those who enjoyed trips to the town in the 1980s.
