WASHINGTON — DC Police detectives have made an arrest in the homicide investigation of a 1-year-old girl, 8 months after she was killed. Investigators with the department's Special Victims Unit arrested 24-year-old Wayne Blake on Thursday. Back in September, officers responded to a home in the 3700 block of Connecticut Avenue Northwest for a report of a child in cardiac arrest. The child, later identified as Journee Moore, was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

WASHINGTON — Wet weather Friday morning caused a large tree to fall on a home in Fairfax County. Police and firefighters responded to the 4200 block of Allison Circle around 5:30 a.m. for a report of a fallen tree. Once there, first responders found a large tree had damaged a home, but no one inside was hurt. Jose Gray lives in the home in Fairfax. He said he was awoken by the noise. He walked through the house and was surprised by the damage.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 15-year-old student has been arrested for bringing a loaded gun to the campus of Gaithersburg High School on Thursday. The Gaithersburg Police Department was called to the high school just after 1 p.m. for an investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers and school staff stopped the 15-year-old and conducted a search. Investigators found the gun during their search.

WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public's help to find three men accused of shooting at another person in the parking lot of a school earlier this month. Metropolitan Police Department investigators released surveillance video of the shooting on Thursday. According to detectives, the shooting happened on May 1 in the 700 block of 26th Street Northeast. Just before 4:30 p.m., the three suspects were in a parking lot of a school.
