    The northbound camera in Ringwood Road, Bournemouth, opposite Turbary Retail Park flashed 11,594 times in 2024. This was the first full year after BCP Council had dropped the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph following a public consultation. By comparison, 2020 saw 39 offences, 2021 had 55 speeding offences and 2022 had 32. So far this year, the camera has flashed 3,054 times. Justin Smith, who was caught out by the Ringwood Road camera, has said he cannot fathom why it was reduced.

    Mark Rutterford, of Highview Gardens, Poole, fly-tipped the horsebox on the A354 in Rockbourne, Wiltshire in October 2024. When environmental officers visited the site, they found a horsebox in the middle of a private driveway, preventing the residents from accessing their home. The horsebox was found to contain assorted waste including tyres, alloy wheels, gas cannisters and cuts of wood.

    3 1/1 HUNDREDS of Bournemouth schoolchildren who ‘walked to Wembley 11 times’ in memory of their football coach who died from cancer, have raised over £2,100 for Cancer Research UK. On Friday, May 23, the pupils and staff of Moordown St John’s C of E Primary School took part in their first ever ‘Race for Clive’. They completed 5,952 laps of the astroturf where Clive Saunders spent over 20 years coaching.

    Kingfishers Fish and Chips, next to Asda in Canford Heath, has been run by owner Onder Ekinci for the past eight years. The 31-year-old has fish and chips running through his blood and follows several family members who have worked in the trade. His dad has 35 years’ experience in the business and his auntie also has Smithsons in Pokesdown, Onder said. “I always grew up with fish and chips,” the chippy owner said.

    Aidan Dunn is now tipped to take the top spot at the council once incumbent chief executive Graham Farrant retires at the end of August. Mr Dunn has more than three decades of experience spanning local government, the civil service and the NHS. His current position is the executive director of corporate development at Dorset Council, where he earns more than £150,000 per year. If accepted into the new role by full council on June 3, he could see his annual salary reach £205,000.
