Gretna East girls soccer defends its Class B state title on Monday afternoon at Morrison Stadium. The Griffins feature a supremely talented senior class led by Sonora De Fini. “I'm a person that hates to lose," said De Fini. “I want to be able to finish every goal that I can get so that we can win as a team.”Last season, no one in state history scored more than De Fini. Her 55 goals were a single-season record en route to a Gretna East state title.

On Thursday afternoon, Lauren Jensen, Creighton women's basketball head coach Jim Flanery and members of the Creighton Bluejays presented a $5,000 check to No More Empty Pots. The money raised, made possible by the Heider Foundation, will help fight food insecurity in Omaha. The nonprofit organization, founded in 2010 in North Omaha, aims to improve self-sufficiency, regional food security, and economic resilience of urban and rural communities through advocacy and action.

Alan Huss was named the Creighton men's basketball associate head coach and head coach-in-waiting on April 10. On Monday, Huss and Creighton head coach Greg McDermott met with reporters for the first time since the news broke. "It hasn't even set in yet. Just how fortunate I am to be here. And I can't wait for my opportunity to continue to lead this place forward," said Huss. The Bluejays have had two coaches over the last 31 years.
