On Monday, June 2, several notable players will complete across 10 different sites to earn a spot at Oakmont for the 2025 U.S. Open. In what's known as "Golf's Longest Day," 10 qualifying sites across the U.S. and Canada will host 36-hole events to secure spots in the U.S. Open field. After shooting an even-par 70 on Thursday, Rickie Fowler has started his second round at the Charles Schwab Challenge scorching hot. Fowler began on the back nine and birdied holes 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 18 to make the turn in 29 strokes. He then made a par on the par-5 10th. Through those 10 holes, Fowler has gained 1.66 strokes on approach and 3.07 strokes putting.

The crowds were out in full force to see PGA professional Michael Block during Thursday’s first round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, and the 48-year-old delivered. Block shot a 2-under-par 68 in difficult conditions and was in the top 20 on the leaderboard as the afternoon starters were in the midst of their first round. His impressive day included five birdies and three bogeys. Block’s performance comes as a bit of a surprise as he struggled mightily at last week's PGA Championship.

The LPGA has named Craig Kessler, former chief operating officer of the PGA of America, as its new commissioner. TGL, the technology-driven indoor simulation golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is adding its first expansion team. A franchise called "Motor City Golf Club" will represent Detroit and begin play in 2027, the league announced Tuesday. The ownership group will be led by Michael Hamp and Middle West Partners and include Sheila Ford Hamp, principal owner and chair of the Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton.

On Friday, Shane Lowry got an incredibly unlucky break that led to a bogey during the second round of the PGA Championship. On the short par-4 8th hole at Quail Hollow, the Irishman striped his tee shot down the fairway but found his ball in the middle of a divot. Lowry inquired about relief from the divot, which he would have been entitled to if it were his own ball. However, it was determined that the divot was from another player, therefore he was not granted relief.
