His first job in the legal field was at the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. After a short stint there, he switched to criminal defense. ST. LOUIS COUNTY (First Alert 4) -- The St. Louis County Council is poised to fund a life-saving injectable Opioid Use Disorder medication for the county jail more than two months after the supply ran out, which forced dozens of detainees out of treatment. St. Louis County has accrued $16 million in opioid settlement funds since 2022 but has not used any. A pending bill would allocate $1 million of those funds for medication at the jail.

He distributed naloxone, the overdose-reversing drug, in Missouri when it was still illegal. He lobbied people in power to change laws. He consulted national organizations on drug policy reform. Now, the attempted dismantling of that work is happening right before his eyes.
