The Harvey-Benger Cricket Club’s second grade men’s team suffered a heartbreaking four-run loss to Marist in Bunbury on Saturday after nearly chasing down 229 runs in the dark. Marist won the toss and elected to bat, with Harvey-Benger bowlers taking a couple of overs to find their rhythm. Kurt Thompson (3-32) dismissed veteran Lee Sorfleet for three in the eighth over, but Marist’s innings started to gain momentum with Joshua Bradbury hitting 20.

Harvey-Benger Cricket Club’s second grade were soundly defeated at home at the hands of Colts on Saturday. Home team captain Matt Chave won the toss and elected to bat, with new opening combination Francois Roelofsz and Haydn Jones attempting to get the side on the board, before Roelofsz was trapped leg before wicket by Sam Lockley. Scott Fowler joined Jones at the crease before he skied a pull shot off Aiden McLaren to be dismissed for 12.

Harvey-Benger’s second grade started their BDCA season with mixed results in two T20 fixtures on Saturday. Starting their campaign against Hay Park, Harvey-Benger lost the toss and were in the field on a wicket which was soft — a handful for the batters. Joryn Scarlett removed the dangerous James Harradine early to leave Hay Park under pressure, being backed up in the next over with Fraser Wray removing Nayte Charles.
