Matthew is a senior researcher in the devolution team. He previously worked on the public services team as one of the authors of the IfG CIPFA Performance Tracker. Matthew has a PhD on the origins of national income accounting. Before university he worked as an intern for an MP and later scrutinised the value for money of government programmes at the National Audit Office. He joined the Institute in June 2022 from a secondment to the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee at the House of Commons. Source
