Both the baseball and softball teams were victorious in their respective first round playoff matchups, advancing to the Division III Non-Select regional rounds in convincing fashion. The baseball team got the upper hand on Wednesday when they hosted No. 19 seed Port Allen (18-9) in a best-of-three contest.

The boys team finished as state runners up. New state records were set by Kacey Moore (300-meter hurdles), Tylar Moore (high jump) and Neal Osburn (200-meter dash). Junior Yvette Oliver was named meet MVP.

Published 8:43 pm Friday, April 11, 2025 An Iberia Parish student was acknowledged by the school board after scoring a perfect 36 on the ACT exam. Patra Liamkeo, a junior at New Iberia Senior High, said she spent her entire Mardi Gras break preparing for the ACT, and the fruits of her effort led to not missing a single question when she took the exam earlier this year. Superintendent of Schools Heath Hulin called Patra one of Iberia Parish’s outstanding students.

Peltier, a freshman at LSU majoring in agriculture education, spends much of her time when she isn’t attending classes in Baton Rouge travelling all across Louisiana promoting the Spanish Festival, New Iberia and Iberia Parish. “We’re always constantly learning,” Peltier said.
