Roki Sasaki built on the best start of the season by turning in a career-long outing but the Los Angeles Dodgers had their winning streak snapped at four games in a 4-3 loss to the Texas Rangers on Adolis García’s walk-off home run. Sasaki’s fastball velocity sat in the low 90s early on Saturday, but he began to sit around 95 mph and touched 97 mph as the outing progressed.

The Los Angeles Dodgers coaching staff has enjoyed a relatively high level of continuity under manager Dave Roberts, but among the changes early into his tenure was Chris Woodward leaving the organization after the 2018 season. Woodward spent three years on Roberts’ staff as third base coach and infield coach before he was hired as Texas Rangers manager. Prior to that point, Woodward had interviewed with the New York Yankees as part of their managerial search that ended with hiring Aaron Boone.

The Los Angeles Dodgers began their road trip without Shohei Ohtani, who is on the paternity list, but Tommy Edman provided power from the leadoff spot and Yoshinobu Yamamoto outdueled Jacob deGrom in a 3-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Edman gave the Dodgers an early lead by opening the game with his seventh home run of the season. That broke a tie with Ohtani for most on the Dodgers and gave Edman the National League lead.

The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Edgardo Henriquez to the 60-day injured list in order to make room on their 40-man roster for the addition of Eddie Rosario. Rosario joined the Dodgers for the start of their road trip due to Shohei Ohtani being placed on the paternity list. Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, are expecting the birth of their first child this weekend. Henriquez (fractured left foot) was among nine pitchers to begin the season on the Dodgers’ injured list.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Shohei Ohtani on the paternity list and selected the contract of Eddie Rosario prior to Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers. Per MLB roster rules, a player that goes on the paternity leave is required to miss a minimum of one day but can’t be away from the team for more than three days. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said it’s possible Ohtani rejoins the Dodgers prior to the end of their series at Globe Life Field.

Well with that Kiké Hernández homer, the Dodgers are going to fall to 9-2 this season when hitting at least two home runs. Unless they come back, of course.
