The Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) are to celebrate their 50th birthday this month. Situated in Rose Street, the organisation was originally known as the Cosmo when it was formed in 1939, before being renamed as the GFT on 2 May 1974. A number of films that are connected to the theatre’s history have been selected to be part of a special programme to celebrate the milestone.

Michelle Thomson, MSP for Falkirk East has said that Kate Forbes is considering entering the race to replace Humza Yousaf as First Minister. Yousaf resigned on Monday afternoon, just four days after he ended the power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens. However, two motions of no confidence, one in his government by Scottish Labour and another in his own leadership by the Scottish Conservatives led to his resignation as Scotland’s sixth First Minister after 13 months in office.
