A decision is expected this week from the City of Sequim’s hearing examiner on Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County’s “Sequim Avenue Development” townhome project. If the conditional use permit and binding site plan are approved by hearing examiner Peregrin Sorter with Laminar Law, the project would include 45 homes with a combination of fourplex, triplex and duplex townhomes on about 6.5 acres at the intersection of East Brownfield Road and South Sequim Avenue.

Sequim runs the gamut in its musical tastes, according to Gary Butler, organizer of the Sequim Record Show. Heavy metal, ’90s alternative and rap, jazz, punk, and reggae are the genres local fans have sought out on vinyl the last two years. For second-year vendor Vinny Robbins, Bremerton store owner of Beats N’ Cats Records, metal and hip-hop did very well in Sequim. “I can only bring a finite amount of records to fit on a table, but I try to bring every genre I can,” he said.

Sophomore Clare Turella repeated as the 2A state high jump champion over the weekend with a personal best. She leapt to 5-4 on May 30 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, two inches more than second place. Turella jumped 5-3 a week prior at the West Central District 3 meet in Bremerton, and improved on her 2A winning state jump (5-2) in 2024. She was one of seven Wolves to compete at the state track and field meet over the weekend.

The remaining two Rite Aid pharmacies in Sequim and Port Angeles are slated to close in the near future following their parent company filing for bankruptcy in early May. Rite Aid at 520 W. Washington St. in Sequim will close June 26, according to signage and staff. Prescriptions will be transferred to QFC, 990 E. Washington St., Building B, in Sequim, by the closing date, unless customers have another pharmacy request their account.
