A 70-year-old woman goes to the pharmacy to pick up medication for her arthritis. How much should that cost her? Maybe $5 for the prescription? Or $20? Or should it be free? There’s surely a lot going on. The woman might be grappling with poverty and discrimination and a plethora of challenges beyond arthritis. A pharmaceutical company may have priced the medication very aggressively. The woman might not have access to good medical advice.
