During the Spring 2022 semester of my university studies, a German man who had been dead for hundreds of years saved my life. Perhaps not how one might initially think upon receiving that phrase; I was not in any immediate physical danger, nor was anything externally dreadful happening to me. At this point in my university career I had fantastic grades, was playing NCAA tennis, and my friends and family were well. So, what was wrong? Why did my life need saving?
