Dave Reddin is the leading candidate to become the Welsh Rugby Union’s new Director of Rugby, ITV Wales understands. As the full time whistle mercifully blew on Saturday evening, an apathetic din descended on the Principality Stadium. That is what should concern the Welsh Rugby Union most. Wales lost 27-18 to Ireland in Cardiff but sometimes the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story. This was an afternoon where Welsh rugby showed signs of life for the first time in two years. Ultimately the losing run continues but things were not as ugly as many feared they might be. For a dizzying spell either side of halftime, Wales led for the first time since the early exchanges against Fiji back in November.
