    First posted April 9, 2024 The Alaska Volcano Observatory responded to eruptions, volcanic unrest or suspected unrest, increased seismicity, and other significant activity at nine volcanic centers in Alaska in 2020. The most notable volcanic activity in 2020 was an eruption of Shishaldin Volcano, which produced lava flows, lahars, and ash. Mount Cleveland had one small ash-producing eruption in June but was quiet thereafter.

    While working on a movie in Taiwan, actor and screenwriter Peter Skagen got very sick and was unable to finish filming. Fortunately for the producers and unknown to Skagen, during the makeup and wardrobe tests they had Skagen against a green screen and were digitizing his face, which they would end up using to finish the film. “The director said ‘That’s alright we’ll just get your stuntman to do the movie, and then we’ll put your face on him’,” Skagen says. “So I had no choice.

    From school trips to walks with friends, the Bridlewood pond has been a place I’ve gone to countless times throughout various stages of my life. There is nothing out of the ordinary in this small wetland on the edge of the southwest community, but something about it has always brought great peace. It isn’t just me that finds joy in the calm water, as ducks, mostly mallards, can be found here on almost any visit outside of the winter.

    Calgary’s Cavalry FC won their second Canadian Premier League regular season title last weekend, with a 3-0 victory over Pacific FC. Finishing with 16 wins and 55 points, the squad won the CPL Shield — given to the regular season champs — by the largest margin in league history. The team hopes to continue their run of form on Saturday in the playoffs, when they take on defending champs Hamilton’s Forge FC.
