    This week, EA made the surprise announcement that it was shutting down one of its newest studios, Cliffhanger, and cancelling their in-development Black Panther game. Moving forward, EA says it will be slimming down its portfolio to focus on a few select franchises. Naturally, these franchises are all the big money makers – Battlefield, The Sims and Apex Legends.

    Over the past couple of years, CD Projekt Red has been building a new US-based development studio and quietly laying the groundwork for Project Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. Now, CD Projekt Red has dropped the codename, referring to the project openly as Cyberpunk 2, as the project has entered pre-production. In an update this week, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2 has reached a new milestone.

    There has been a resurgence in TMNT video games in recent years. From the fantastic arcade collection to new action games like TMNT: Splintered Fate. Now, we are getting a TMNT VR game for the first time. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City has just been announced for virtual reality platforms. The game will be available on both the Meta Quest 3, as well as on Steam, so you can hook up any PC VR headset and get to playing. Unfortunately, the reveal trailer shows us …. nothing.

    We are one week away from the Nintendo Switch 2 launching worldwide. Nintendo has promised backwards compatibility with the vast majority of the Switch 1 game library, with just a few notable exceptions. So far, around 75% of the Switch 1 library has been tested. Nintendo had already confirmed that certain games that rely on external peripherals, like Ring Fit Adventure and the Nintendo Labo games, will not work on Switch 2 due to changes to the console and Joy-Cons.

    It has been a while since we last had an update for the GeForce Now app on Steam Deck. This week, that is finally changing, with GeForce Now for SteamOS leaving beta. On top of that, six more games are joining the GFN cloud gaming library this week. The Steam Deck makes for a fantastic streaming device. I've been using GeForce Now on my Steam Deck for over a year at this point.
