The Cook County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a Human Rights Ordinance amendment that revises its “national origin” definition to recognize linguistic characteristics associated with one’s place of birth or ancestry. Commissioner Josina Morita (13th), the first Asian-American woman to serve on Cook County’s board, proposed the amendment last month, which was then referred to the Human Rights Committee before approval.

The PEACE Center uses a restorative justice, non-punitive approach to education at the district. It provides wraparound services, including counseling, behavioral management training, and connects students to social workers.

Prairie State College’s TRIO program will proceed with their spring break trip as planned after the board of trustees approved funding for it during their Feb. 25 meeting. The board originally rejected funding for the trip. But in an unanimous vote, the board approved the original $78,750 contract with GL Travel.
