MATTHEWS, N.C. — During the public comment period at Monday night’s Matthews Board of Commissioners meeting, several individuals caused a disruption by spewing reprehensible hate speech that was anti-Semitic, homophobic, racist and sexist. These individuals participated via the Zoom option and did not show their faces and presumably used fake names. This type of event is known as “Zoom bombing” and is something many other public meetings have experienced across the country.

Clesceri comes to the role with over 33 years of distinguished service in law enforcement, having most recently served as chief of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office in Woodstock, Ill.
