MARLBOROUGH — Donald Landers, longtime member of the City Council, died on Wednesday, March 12, at the age of 83. Landers, who represented Ward 7 for nearly 20 years, was undergoing treatment for cancer. This would have been his final term on the council. Landers also worked for Marlborough Public Schools in a variety of positions, from teacher to assistant superintendent. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

MARLBOROUGH – The search for a superintendent for Marlborough Public Schools will begin again following a unanimous decision by the School Committee to forego the choice between finalists David Ljungberg and David Thomson. During the meeting on March 11, committee member Katherine Hennessy cited the school district’s size, diversity, and the “need to be flexible” as reasons to conduct a new search. “It requires someone who can connect,” she said.

GRAFTON – One of Grafton’s oldest restaurants has changed hands. OnMarch 4, the Select Board approved the transfer of the all-alcoholic beverages license for the Post Office Pub, 1 Ray St., from Edward J. Whiterell (The Olde Post Office Pub Inc.) to the Helia Group LLC. The board also approved the re-issue of the 2025 Common Victualler License and Indoor Music License. WESTBOROUGH – On Feb. 24, Economic Development Coordinator Lara Crawford presented some ways residents and visitors can find their way around town. A wayfinding workshop in the Forbes Municipal Building invited participants to provide input on three different designs: a sleigh, the top of Westborough Town Hall, and a design that combines the sleigh and Town Hall. One resident compared the town hall design to a lighthouse.
