The Red Wings worked like a light switch today. They’d be on for the first half of the period and flip off and let New Jersey score twice in the last ten minutes of both of the first two periods. Costly errors and the team’s abysmal penalty kill had parts, but the main factor in the Red Wings loss to New Jersey was their inability to finish. In a game that was meant to test whether or not the Red Wings could compete with the big boys, they came up far short.

To me, and, I imagine, most, the American Thanksgiving holiday and its meal conjures a consistent mental image. A turkey with stuffing, roasted in the oven or prepared by some overzealous uncle with a (hopefully) outdoor deep fryer. A side of mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetables of some sort completes the meal. Which is kind of funny when you think about it. Thanksgiving is held on a different day each year. While it is always the fourth Thursday of the month, that date can be anything from Nov.

At the Nov. 19 meeting of the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners in Buena Vista, Commissioners heard feedback on this year’s Renewal Festival and approved a multi-year permit for a festival in Salida. Renewal 2024 brought 'several concerns'Nick Gomer, a planning technician with the county, gave Commissioners an annual review of Renewal, held at the Meadows in Buena Vista over Labor Day weekend. The annual review process is a condition of the multi-year permit granted to Bonfire Entertainment.

Watching the Red Wings throughout this west coast road trip has been an exercise in frustration. Detroit gave up a two goal lead in Anaheim after dominating the first period. The Ducks would use that reversed momentum to mop the floor with the Red Wings for the second half. They were flat outplayed in the Kings game and barely escaped the shutout. In Sunday’s 5-4 overtime lose to San Jose, Detroit couldn’t maintain a lead for love nor money.
