Fans will have plenty to watch on the court, with incredible matchups every day. Ryan Sheehan and Max Suckley are going to be tuned in, but our eyes won’t be on the court; they’ll be on the sidelines passionately watching the furries, or mascots as some call them.

    A day after Cal women’s soccer downed No. 14 Stanford in a 3-2 upset, the men’s team traveled to the farm and achieved a similarly thrilling victory. The stunning 1-0 victory over the No. 22 Cardinal is the second ACC upset the Bears have pulled off on the road. Though Cal brings intensity to every match, the rivalry against Stanford gave the team extra motivation. “Anytime you’re playing your rival, it adds motivation,” said Cal head coach Leonard Griffin.

    After a huge win in Pittsburgh, Cal played its final two nonconference games against Portland on the road and St. Mary’s at home. The Bears traveled to Portland to face off against the then-2-4-6 Pilots. Despite Portland’s struggles this season, it beat Cal convincingly. The first half was mostly quiet with neither side scoring and only nine shots between both teams. The real action started in the second half with the Bears shooting 10 times and the Pilots shooting eight.

    The Bears will play their last two nonconference games against West Coast rivals, Portland and Saint Mary’s, after a miraculous 1-0 upset on the road against then No. 1 Pittsburgh. The shocking victory over the nation's most premier program was also the first ACC victory for the Bears, who now sit at 1-3-2 in conference play and 4-5-2 overall. Cal goalkeeper, junior Marco Brougher, made a huge stop in the 80th minute — blocking a penalty kick.

    On a scorching hot Thursday afternoon at Edwards Stadium, Cal and Louisville engaged in a fiery battle — resulting in an exhausting draw. The action picked up in the 12th minute when Bear forward Malcolm Zalayet made a hard tackle to earn himself a yellow card. In the 20th minute, the Cardinals' leading scorer Gage Guerra executed an acrobatic volley to put his side up 1-0.
