New figures released by the Office for National Statistics this morning show CPI rose by 2.6% in the year March, down from 2.8% in the year to February. The ONS says recreation and culture and and motor fuels contributed to the decline. On a monthly basis, inflation rose by 0.3% in March compared with 0.6% in March last year.

GB News reports that 700 migrants have crossed the channel today. Beating the 2025 one-day record of 656 back on Saturday…Before today there were 8,064 arrivals so far in 2025 according to official data. 46% higher than at the same point last year…The all-time record is still held by 3 September 2022, when 1,305 people arrived. This latest set of arrivals will push the 2025 figure close to 9,000 for the year so far. Not a record Cooper will want under her belt…
