I’m officially in my last week of my undergraduate college experience. The past four years have been some of the hardest yet most rewarding years of my life. At the end of my freshman year of college, I wrote an article for Her Campus titled “One Year Down: A Look Back at Freshman Year”. It is so bittersweet to go back and read that article and remember the girl who wrote it. That first year changed me in so many ways, but little did I know there was so much more in store.

Sometimes I know I want to watch a movie, but can’t seem to find one that speaks to me. Sometimes I just want to watch something that I know I am guaranteed to enjoy. While there are a lot of movies on my “favorites” list, there are only a few that I can watch over and over and over again and never get sick of. I am someone who loves holidays. I love any excuse to get together with friends and celebrate. I live my life in anticipation of whatever holiday is coming next. That being said, Thanksgiving has never been my favorite. I’m not the biggest turkey fan, it is always so much work for such brief enjoyment, and it always felt like an obstacle I had to get past before I could start getting ready for Christmas.

There comes a time every few months or so where I feel like I’m falling apart. My laundry is piling up, important tasks aren’t getting done, and between school and work, I feel like I’m spread too thin. I’ve always been an overachiever and an overcommitter. I take on a lot, and if I’m not managing it all perfectly, I tend to get really self critical. I feel small and young and disorganized. I feel like I haven’t learned a thing or grown at all since I was a teenager.

For me, literature is one of the most valuable and important ways to learn about the unique experiences of different groups and people across the globe. Right now, we are living in a cultural moment where this freedom to explore and learn through literature is under attack. Books, especially those that center marginalized voices, are being banned in public schools across the country.

We grew up in possibly the most iconic era of TV known to man. We had shows like Good Luck Charlie, A.N.T Farm, Austin and Ally, Jessie, Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montana,and Liv and Maddie. But Disney Channel also gave us something more: a plethora of movie masterpieces that have forever indented themselves in my mind. The centerpieces of many a formative childhood sleepover, not only were these Disney Channel Originals serving plot and iconic characters, but unforgettable musical numbers.

This past weekend marked the final games of the NCAA March Madness tournament. If you’ve been following March Madness at all, you know that this year the hype surrounding the women’s tournament specifically has been off the charts. These elite college basketball teams have been smashing viewership records and selling out stadiums, proving that there is an audience invested in and entertained by women’s sports. This spike in popularity has been fueled by the star power of several incredible players.
