The ’90s have always been a tricky decade to define for horror, offering everything from cable and physical home releases to big budget horror. On the latter front, horror experimented with grand period pieces like Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stoker’s Dracula as much as it did with spectacle driven, action-heavy creature features. The decade delivered no shortage of memorable monster movies that emphasized creature FX and entertainment, from theatrical releases to home video offerings.

IDW Publishing is partnering with WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. to bring some of the publisher’s most popular franchises to the platform, beginning with a few key genre comic series. The new partnership will make WEBTOON’s English-language platform the exclusive digital home of newly reformatted webcomic versions of Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters, Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, and They Called Us Enemy.

Weird fiction may not be quite as popular as more traditional genres like fantasy or even gothic horror, but you’d be surprised with how much of modern media is inspired or at least influenced by the works of authors like Clark Ashton Smith and even August Derleth. Of course, if one man is responsible for codifying Weird Fiction as we know it today, it has to be the father of the Cthulhu Mythos himself, Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

Cinderella gets a gruesome horror twist in The Ugly Stepsister, the feature debut by writer-director Emilie Blichfeldt. IFC Films and Shudder has released a massive batch of new images from the Cinderalla horror movie that highlight the film’s lavish sense of fairy tale style. The darkly entertaining fairy tale horror film will release in theaters on April 18, 2025. The Ugly Stepsister follows “Elvira (Lea Myren) as she prepares to earn the prince’s affection at any cost.
