1. IntroductionThe nervous system is divided into two distinct components: the central nervous system (CNS), composed of the brain and the spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), composed of the cranial and spinal nerves that extend from the CNS throughout the body. The normal, healthy nervous system is responsible for sensory, motor, and cognitive functions [1].
