After attending the Burlington International Airport’s workshop on the new 2029 Noise Exposure Map at Chamberlin Elementary School on Oct. 23, I learned the following day that Vermont Air National Guard had held a press conference earlier that evening to unveil the proposed plan for regular use of afterburners, supposedly — and it remains unproven — for the benefit of Winooski residents.

To the Editor:As city officials seek to engage with residents through surveys and more directly by meeting with us where we are, policy positions are still the ultimate test on whether they actually represent our best interests. Unarguably, one the best ways for elected officials to encourage more participation in local government is to speak clearly with us and on the level.

On Sept. 9, the city council signed a letter of support for a funding application made by the Northeast Agricultural Trust and South Burlington Land Trust to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board for the Long View Project, supported by Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity.
