Mine is busy busy busy but I have managed to fit in time to work away on getting the first pages of the Beckon story done. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Beckon is the story I shared last week, the one I’ve been collecting bits and pieces for over the last few years.

Jumpin’ jellyfish! I almost forgot today’s newsletter - and in the month of MerMay no less! That’s not to say I forgot about Mermay, because I 100% did not. Even while organizing multiple kid birthday parties and family events and getting to all the sports, I have plans to again attempt a short comic like last year.

I’m super busy as the deadline for my current book draws nearer by the minute so I haven’t had as much time to devote to this week’s newsletter as I’d like. But! The world is teeming with ravenous greed monsters and I don't know about you but I am exhausted. Who owes what at what rate and to and from where. Tit for tat. Pay for play. Subscribe forever. Your mortal soul for one shiny dollar. This is life. Gross. Gross ugly greed monsters setting the world quaking beneath our feet. Or maybe it’s always been like this. The monsters are just at our doorstep now. And as I write my little stories while the greed monsters rage, I have to wonder at the absurdity of it all.

It still feels silly to make stuff right now. To draw. To write. To daydream. But I promised myself, and you, dear reader, that I would try to focus - keep calm and carry on. So to do that, to do something that was in keeping with how I’m feeling but also keeps me creative and drawing, I've tried to chose a theme for March (all of March? Some of March? Until the inspo is spent I suppose), and after days of deliberating, I decided on CIRCUS. It made sense for obvious reasons, I should think.

I’ve been quiet, I know this. The real world (outside the digital realm) has been a lot to work with and so my newsletter life has had to go on the back burner a bit. Why? My usual life routine has been thrown for a loop due to forces beyond my control and uncertainty about next steps have forced a lot of grappling and strategizing and evaluating.
