Over 7,000 homes near Chandola Talab in Ahmedabad were torn down by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), leaving thousands of families homeless and struggling to survive. The demolition started on April 28 after the Gujarat High Court approved the removal of houses built on government land near the water body. Officials said these houses were illegal encroachments. Many of the demolished homes were in areas called Siyasatnagar and Bengali Vaas, where mostly Muslim families live.

A Muslim man was killed and his brother seriously injured after a mob attacked them over alleged animal theft in Chhapra’s Ahitoli area under Nagar police station limits. According to locals, the stolen animal was found in a nearby area called Kasai Toli. This discovery angered people, and a mob brutally beat two brothers – Zakir Qureshi and Nihal Qureshi. Zakir died during treatment, while Nihal is in a serious condition and is currently admitted to Patna’s PMCH hospital.
