Fit for an empress at Tower Hill"Chinese Empresses" by artist Xiang Li is a collection of artwork depicting more than 200 empresses intricately hand-painted on silk using traditional Chinese gemstone watercolor techniques. The full collection will be on display for the first time from June 14 to Aug. 24 at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston.

Get there by 1 p.m. to see a performance of local composer and playwright Stephen Murray's mini opera adaptation, which expands the story to include the umpire, our unlucky hero's wife and the crowd of Mudville baseball fans. Admission to both the performance and the museum will be free.
