    You may remember the news story earlier this year about slushies; two seven-year-olds in the UK and Ireland needed emergency treatment after drinking a slushy, and the advice now is to hold off giving slushies to kids until they are eight years old. While my children are past that age, I do read this with some horror after giving them slushies when they were younger. But I can make positive changes now.

    The rise of AI is disrupting a lot of areas of life at the moment, but one of the hardest-hit areas is the creative industries. According to a survey from the Society of Authors, a quarter of illustrators have lost their jobs to AI already, and 86% of respondents are concerned that the use of AI devalues human-made creative work. It’s difficult not to have strong feelings about this, but AI isn’t going away, and many of us will have to start using it in our jobs, for example.

    Every woman experiences periods slightly differently. For me, my periods have always been difficult to contend with, and I tend to crave specific food: pasta, chocolate, and crisps are the biggest culprits. While I do think a treat every now and then isn’t a bad thing, it’s worth noting that there are certain kinds of foods that can help to reduce symptoms like cramps, bloating, and tiredness.
