On 19 September 2023, the NSW Government announced a number of changes to the Duties Act 1997 and Land Tax Management Act 1956 as part of its 23/24 Budget. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) released its 2023/2024 Corporate Plan in July and as anticipated, have identified 'superannuation guarantee (SG) integrity' as one of eight focus areas. The ATO's objective is to continue expanding the use of data to improve SG compliance, monitoring whether employees receive correct and timely superannuation entitlements and taking firm action against employers who fail to meet their obligations.
